Events have begun across Islwyn and the world to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

We will never forget the sacrifice made by so many to liberate Nazi occupied Europe.

It is bravery that will echo down the centuries as we remember those who fought and died to save our freedoms.

In Aberbargoed in Islwyn at the Memorial Garden, veterans and residents gathered to pay their respects.
